Shaun Evaristo - Carnival 2011

Like Shaun said: read the description before watching the performance

My 2011 Carnival piece. An open slot for the show came about very last minute and I decided to take up the opportunity. Luckily with a great cast of dancers (my awesome friends), I was able to get the show done in a few rehearsals. The whole team was down for all my ideas and also willing to dip into the emotion and motivation behind each piece.

Inspired by Prince and a bit of Fossy, I wanted to take their level of artistry into my realm of choreography and creativity. To me, they had such a huge presence on film and on stage and it was great to take myself there. In particular, the level of sexuality of Prince. His agenda is not masculine or feminine, gay or straight, just all around sexy and sensual. I feel that sexuality is very taboo sometimes and I just wanted to touch base on that, utilizing music that really has that essence to it.

My goal was to just open up, explore and express. We are all human and we all experience different feelings. This is just my way of putting how I feel out into the universe.

Special thanks to all that supported and all my friends who danced and helped out. I love you guys!

enjoy.
